The inconsistency makes it impossible to build trust, let alone a reliable system.</p><p>Prompts alone have high variability. The solution isn&#8217;t just a better prompt (the golf swing), but better <strong>orchestration </strong>of the environment (the course). It&#8217;s not just <em>answering</em>; it&#8217;s <em>synthesizing</em> within a shared world. </p><h4>Part 2: The &#8220;Hardware&#8221;: Our Cognitive Scaffolding</h4><p>To get to Level 2, our AI needs &#8220;hardware&#8221; to run on. This isn&#8217;t the silicon or data center; it&#8217;s <em><strong>cognitive scaffolding</strong></em>. For this, we use Project Files (the memory workspace built into ChatGPT and Claude), NotebookLM, and Google Drive. Any context uploaded in the thread is transactional, one-time use, information.  This is in the LLM&#8217;s active memory and available for reference in the thread.  Each LLM is getting enhanced memory, but this is still a summary across prior threads.  If you want the full context to carry over threads, load into the Project Files and direct LLM to review when needed.  </p></li></ol><p>By separating our knowledge this way, we create clear boundaries across our data <strong>with less noise or diluted reference sources</strong>. This &#8220;mental clutter&#8221; can make it forget key instructions or produce less relevant work.  AI retains the beginning and end of long entries best.  Pay attention to risk of lost context and details in the middle.</p><p>As a good project manager, you need to keep the project on track. This involves <strong>actively managing</strong> the conversation. You can do this by periodically asking for a &#8220;<strong>thread summary</strong>&#8221; to ensure you and the AI are on the same page.  This repetition builds context scaffolding for the AI, and keeps your own thinking on track through iterations and exchanges.  </p><p>For example: <strong>&#8220;Let&#8217;s summarize our progress so far: what are the key decisions we&#8217;ve made and what are our next steps?&#8221;</strong> This &#8220;reboots&#8221; the AI&#8217;s focus with a clean, condensed set of instructions, ensuring it stays focused on what&#8217;s most important.</p><div><hr></div><h2><strong>The Anatomy of a Powerful Prompt: 6 Key Components</strong></h2><p>A well-constructed prompt is the primary tool for building context. While simple requests may only require one or two components, mastering all six is essential for tackling complex projects.
