Some great suggestions for necessary practices to protect sovereignty. Setting a timer for my conversations with AI and being strict about it helps as well.

Great piece, I’m enjoying how you’re putting this all together. I got a good piece coming out tomorrow on my use and recent reports of ChatGPT induced psychosis.

This is great! Ideally I'd love to see concrete examples (an example of what felt like overstepping with AI, and an example of an AI use case that felt just right, perhaps even from the same project or work in progress). Even if it's just to point us to examples you stumbled upon in your research.

The big frustration I have with the Substack debate over AI writing (is it ok vs. not okay vs. sometimes okay?) is that everyone has something different in mind by "AI writing" so we just trade abstractions and talk past each other. I think we probably need to get into the nitty gritty of some case studies together, to make progress on collective sensemaking and new norms around this stuff as a community.

In my experience, when you say AI should be used to "amplify what's alive in you," most of the anti-AI purists have no sense of what you mean, they're not sure it's possible, and they just think you're speaking self-serving gibberish. There's some amount of willful lack of imagination we're up against.

So my motto for the discussion going forward is "show don't tell."

Thank you for this piece! There’s so much negative talk on Substack about using AI in your writing, but as long as you stay true to your voice and message, I don’t see the problem in using AI to help shape the text..

Disclaiming up front that AI has been involved seems to be a good way to build trust. Not because you owe anyone an explanation, but because transparency creates space for curiosity rather than judgment.

The future isn’t reserved for those who automate everything or reject the tools entirely. It’s being shaped by those who engage in this transition with discernment, clarity, and creative sovereignty.

This is the juice.
