If we think of memory not has something held, but reasoned: of looking at the resonance of important concepts or tokens as touchstones to determine was used to be, we can see how it gets hazier as we move further from the self evidence of the now. So when AI hallucinate or remember the "spirit" of an event rather than the specifics, it is not having enough resonance to strongly recall.

Tell me everything you saw on your drive to work this morning: did anything resonate or did you get "highway blindness". When you remember past events are they triggered by smell and feel most intensely? The resonance of memory.
